POLES SEEK PEACE.

United Press Association. —By Electric Telegraph —Copyright. WARSAW, July 23. The Poles have sent the Bolsheviks definite armistice proposals, suggesting that discussions be held ai Grodno. . Copenhagen reports that as the L>oisheviks contrary to agreement have made themselves masters in vilna, the Lithuanian Government has sent an ultimatum to the Soviet, demanding the withdrawal of the Russian armies bevond the demarcation line. _ The Polish Note to Russia says that Poland has been informed that the Soviet Government has stated that it would willingly accept a peace proposition from Poland. The latter wishing to stop all bloodshed as soon as possible, proposes an immediate armistice and the opening ot peace negotiation. , The "Morning Post" correspondent savs that the full text of all the Notes have been published in Warsaw where the situation is such that the National Council of Defence cannot longer avoid taking the public into their confidence. It is evident that the wav is being prepared to prevent the over-violent faction attempting to take control of affairs, if somewhat inglorious peace accepted.

A Moscow wireless announces that the Soviet Government has agreed to an armistice, and publishes «• the text of Notes in connection therewith to Warsaw and the higher military confmand. The former states that the Soviet Government has ordered the supreme command to commence immediately with the Polish command negotiations for concluding an armistice, and'preparing for future peace. The Russian com mand will' advise the Polish command of the place and date commencing of negotiations. BERLIN, July 23.

Soviet representatives have assured the Government that the Reds will not cross the German frontier. They aimed rather at using Poland as a bridge for trade relations with Germany.
