SHARP RISE IN PRICES. CHRISTCHURCH, Last Night. There was a fair yarding of both fat and store stock to-day, and values showed a sharp advance. In store sheep there was the smallest yarding of the season, prices advancing to about 30/ a head. Wether hoggets brought 21/ to 23/10, mixed sex hoggets 22/7 to 26/10, ewe hoggets 26/1, 2,4, 6 and 8-tooth ewes in lamb 29/6 to 36/3, 6 and 8-tooth ewes in lamb 32/3, sound and failing mouth ewes in lamb 17/6 to 23/* 2tooth wethers 25/7 to 32/9.

Pat sheep : There was a small entry in all classes’ and a sharp rise of about 3/ a head. —Extra prime wethers 48/9 to 59/6, prime wethers 41/ to 48/, medium wethers 36/6 to 40/6, ordinary wethers 32/ to 36/, extra prime ewes 48/ to 56/3, prime ewes 39/ to 47/6, medium ewes 33/6 to 38/6, lighter ewes 34/6 to 32/6. Fat cattle: There was a moderate entry which met with a very keen demand, values at recent strong sales being exceeded. —Extra prime steers to £37 10/, prime steers £2l 10/ to £26 10/, medium steers £l6 to £2O 10/, light x and unfinished steers £8 12/6 to £5, extra prime, heifers to £l9, prime heifers £l4 10/ to £l7, light and unfinished heifers £9 to £l3 15/, prime cows £l4 10/ to £l9, ordinary cows £8 15/ to £l3 15/. Vealers. —Values were a shade higher than in the preceeding week. — Runners to £9 3/, good vealers £4 to £3 10/, calves 10/ to 30/. Store cattle: All classes showed an improved demand. —Three-year steers, to £l3, cows £9 10/, bulls £1 15/. Dairy cattle: Anything with milking points sold readily.—Fourth culvers to £24 10/, second and third calvers £2O, Fat pigs: There was a small entry and a firm demand. —Choppers to £9 10/, light baconers £6, and heavy £8 2/6. Average price per lid. Light porkers £4 10/, heavy £5 12/. Average price per lb, 1/1 to 1/lSd, Store pigs: The demand was not so keen as at recent sales.—Medium stores 60/ to 68/, small to 50/, weaners 20/ to 34/6, inferior sows in pig £B.
