HAWKE’S BAX SECOND DAY. HASTINGS, Last Night. The weather was fine but overcast for the second day of the Hawke’s Bay Jockey Club’s winter meeting. The sum of £29,978 went through the totalisator, compared with £25,610 last year, an increase of £2 568, the total for the two days amounting to £58,629, as against £47,205 for the two days’ racing last . year, an increase of £11,424. Packer), 10.11, 1; Juan 2, Slumix 3. Also started — Pawerewere, Master Webster, Nicomar, Torchy, Graftella, Manhattan, Sail Home and Combustion. Won by a dozen lengths. Time, 4.20 1-5. HAWKE’S BAY HUNT CUP STEEPLES, 2 5 miles. —Sturdee (H. Lorrigan), 11.2, 1; Sandringham 2, Patanika 3. Also started —Bill, Bollin and Dorset. Won as he liked. Time, 5.23 1-5. After the first forfeits for the National Hurdles, 30 remain in, including Beltane, Silent Way and British Arch. Thirty-five remain in the Steeplechase, including Tararu Jack.
