Messrs Abraham arid Williams, Ltd., report:—On 7th inst., we conducted a clearing- sale on account of Air C. Wood ley, Newbury, of the Avhole of his pedig-ree and grade Ayrshire herd. There was a g-ood attendance of buyers, consequently the herd sold well. Sundries sold at late rates. We quote: —Cows i'S 10/ to £27 10/, Ayrshire bulls (ycarling-s) £2 10/ to 14 4/, aged 3mil £5 5/, pedigree weaner heifer £6 15/, weaner heifers £3 5/ to £5 :12/G, yearling steers £1 If. rigs: Sows in pig- £S. £S 5/ to £S 17/G, E. sows £3 5/, sto'-e pig's 37/, £2 to £2 5/. Horses: Aged mares £lO to £l9 10/, aged gelding- £ll.
At Ashhurst on Sth inst., we held a successful clearing- sale of dairy stock on account of Mr W. Hay worth. The cows, which were well into the Jersey, had all been tested and this uiade a vast difference to the prices. Sundries sold well. Wo quote:—Cows £l4 to £27 10/, pedigree Jersey 3-year bull IGgns. yearling- heifer £5. Pigs: Sow i'.i nig £7 10/, maiden sows £7 to £7 12/0. suckers. £1 1/ to 36/. At Palmerston North on Thursday we held our weekly stock sale. We submitted a fair yarding of both sheep and tattle to a good attendance of buyers. There was keen demand for sheep, cattle being dull. We quote: —■ F.m. rv.es in lamb 2G/D, f. and i.e. ewes 16/ to 25/, fat ewes 30/1 to 30/0. springing cows £ l 2 to £ls, early heifers (2-year) £4 17/G, early cows £2 12/0 to £4 5/. At Fcilding sale on 11th inst., a fair yarding of both sheep and cattle came forward. The sheep changed hands at satisfactory prices, while bidding for cattle was dull. We quote:—Mixed lambs 15/11 to 2S/7, b.f. lambs 20/0, wether lambs 25/, woolly lambs 10/. cull lambs 4/0, 2J-year steers £5 7/0 to £S 10/, 2-year steers £G 10/, ISrnonth steers £3 13/. weaner steers "0/, dairy cow £ls 10/, dairy heifers £!0 5/ to £l7 10/. store cows £3 15/, weaner heifers 2S/ to £3 17/.
The Wairarapa Farmers' Co-op. Association, Ltd. (stock department). Da.nnovirke, report on their usual wccklv -sale held on Friday, June 11th, as follows: —Wc offered a gooQ yarfling of all classes of sheep, hoggets maintained late rates but other classes were hard to quit. We disposed of the bulk of our entry as undermentioned. On!v a few pens of cattle were offered, which met with a dull market: 10 fat ewes 30/, 1 do. 30/, lfl m.a. ewes 21/, r> do. 13/, 22 woolly hoggets 2(1/10, S 4 do. 24/, 209 shorn lambs 22'/.;. 204 woolly lambs 15/3, 172 sh-on lambs 15/, small lambs 6/7 to 31/. 1 dairy cow £l4, 3 do. £lO, 1 cow in r.-iilk £9 10/, 1 dairy cow £6 ;'/, 4 da ," 10/, 1 do. £4 15/, 2 S.H. bulls £3 1"/ avid £1 5/, 4 store cows £3, 1 Jersey weaner heifer £2, 3 20-month heifers 30/, 2 weaner steers 27/, 2 Wcanw-o 25/, 2 do. 15/.
