The decision means that the Volstead Act prohibiting the sale of any beverage containing one-half of one per cent or more of alcohol mast be enforced in every of whether that State has individually ratified the amendments to the State laws allowing the.alcoholic content as enacted in New Jersey, Wisconsin and Rhode Island. The nullified decision dispels the hope of the brewing interests that their properties could manufacture light beers and wines, ,The result is regarded as a complete victory for the prohibition forces, settling for all time the question of the legality of the Volstead amendment.
