The New York Times' correspondent at Chicago says that with the Republican Convention only a few days off, no one can even hazard a geese as to who will be nominated. However, a considerable boom for Mr Hoover started to-night, but the boomers have not yet come out into the open, though it is whispered that big interests are backing him. It is argued that Mr Hoover is a friend of the League of Nations, and League supporccis will naturally hack him. It would seem to-night, however, that Mr Johnson is favourite. Women are expected to play a big part in this year's Presidential nomination.
