A man named John Steel, who was on a visit to Wellington, dropped dead in Cuba Street about noon on Saturday. A doctor’s certificate has been given that death was due to heart failure. A girl named Hilda Holden, who recently figured in the Supreme Court in a case in connection with the murder of an infant child, and was released on recognisances, attempted suicide on Saturday by taking fly poiosn. She was removed to Whangarei Hospital. Her condition is regarded as critical.
