MARTON DISTRICT HIGH SCHOOL.
The Marton District High School and Technical School Committee met on Friday evening. Present: Messrs J J McDonald (chairman), J B Barrington, E Fletcher, J D Gorrie, E Hutchins, B B Kilgour and L F de Berry, headmaster. The Headmaster’s report shows an increase on roll number —Primary 389, Secondary 40; total 379. Average attendance Primary 308.2, Secondary 39.2. If attendance in Secondary Department is maintained another assistant is assured on April 6 th
The Headmaster was requested to convey to pupils the pleasure and appreciation of the Committee on the successes at recent examinations as follows: —Junior Free Places 2, Senior 3, Matriculation 1, D. Certificate 1, 3rd Section of D 1, 2nd Section of D 1, Ist Section of D 1. Letter received from Board re consideration of future establishment of a Technical High School was held in abeyance awaiting further enquiries. Secretary reported having received cheque for £2 2s from Mr Dixon, Scoutmaster, towards prize fund— Hearty vote of thanks accorded. Appreciative reference was made to the splendid quality of the afternoon tea provided and the successful working of this department, and a very hearty vote of thanks and appreciation was accorded to the ladies who had sent the provisions and those who had assisted at the recent sports gathering
