The Chamber of Commerce Conference passed a motion in favour of holding a conference with representatives of other oraganistions, including Labour, to discuss Mr Braddon’s arbitration proposals, also a further motion was carried urging the Commonwealth Government to call a convention of employers and employees to amend the Arbitration Act by appointing assessors with expert knowledge of the industry affected by the dispute to co-operate with the judge in adjudicating, and require both parties- to the award to deposit bonds to ensure its observance, It also passed a resolution calling on the Federal Government to decontrol the sugar industry, and remove all export prohibitions, Melbourne, March 18 Mr Hughes announced that Government had s reachea 'a temporary agreement with the Colonial Wool Combing Company, and work is resuming. The prices of butter have been increased to 319 s4d first grade, 314 s 8d second, and 310 s third.
