SHORT STAY IN MARTON. Tho public will be glad to learn that, instead ot merely stopping at the railway station. His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales will remain for some time in the town of Marion, at which he will arrive by motor car from Wanganui at about 10 o’clock in the morning of April' 24th. This alteration has l?een gained by the energtic action of the Marton District High School Committee, The following correspondence will be of interest to many. No doubt the various School Committees throughout the district will arrange for attendance of the children in Marton on that occasion ,

" Dear Sir, —In reply to your letter of the 20th ultimo, I have to say that it has now been decided that on Saturday, 24th April, H.R. H. the Prince of Wales will motor from Wanganui to Marton, and join the train at tho latter station in continuance of his journey to Napier. Under this arrangement, it will now be possible tor the assemblage of schoolchildren, etc., and presentation of addresses to take place in the town or at tho racecourse, and I suggest tha| you should communicate on this point with His Worship the Mayor, to whom I have written on the matter. It must, however, be distinctly understood that it will not be possible to arrange for the Prince to perform functions such as laying of foundation atones or unveiling of memorials.—Yours faithfully, FRANCIS BELL.
