A POLITICAL VENDETTA.
HELFFERIOH’S CHARGES AGAINST ERZBERGER.
United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.
London, ?an 24
The Daily Chronicle’s Berlin correspondent says the fate of Government hangs on the issue of the Erz-berger-Helfferich libel suit, which has been going on for a week, and attracting enormous public attention to Helfferich. He is the darling of the Pan-Germans and has long pursued Erzberger in a pitiless vendetta. He accuses Erzberger of being a politi cal business man, representing political corruption of the worst kind. He says he drew £2OOO a year from the Krupp Company while he was in Government employment. The case may last a fortnight. More fresh accusations are continually being made, and drawing long denials. Government circles are very anxious.
