GORGE BOARD OF CONTROL.

The hrst meeting of the newly•■constituted Board of Control of Manawatu Gorge Road was held today. The members present were: Messrs J. A, Nash, Palmerston ■North Borough ; H. Cornelius, Pahiatua,County and-Borough; J. Linklater, JKairanga County; Hugh Burrell, Groua and Raugitikei Counties and Feilding Borough; iH. P. Horne, Woodville Borough and County; K. S. Shad wick, Dannevirke Borough and County and Waipawa County. Mr Nash was ■elected chairman.

The following resolutions were passed That tho headquarters be Palmerston North; that temporary appointment of clerk be left to the chairman; that Mr Jickell, Palmerston North, be engaged to carry out repairs to the Gorge bridge on a 10 per cent basis, and also prepare a comprehensive report for improvements ; that the Minister of Public Works be asked to give £ for £ authority for subsidy for the bridge; ;that s financiai arrangements be left to the chairman and Mr Linklater.
