PASTORS IN PENURY
London, Nov 19 Speakers at the Congregational Union at Bradford bitterly denounced the miseries of the pastors, owing to the heavy taxation and high prices. Sir J. MacClure, the chairman, said that Congregationalists were faced with a clear issue. They mu st either give the pastors better ‘pay, or adopt the Catholic tenet of celibacy for the clergy in their churches.
