THE SINN FEIN.

an incorrect statement.

United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. Received Dec 11. noon.

London, Dec 10

Regarding Colonel Malone’s statement in the Commons that Mr Sbortt recently narrowly escaped assassination at the hands of Sinn Reiners ■when he was entering Dublin Castle, it transpires that it was a sentry who fired on the Chief Secretary’s car which did not stop when challenged. It was also Mr MacPherson, Chief Secretary for Ireland, not Shortt, as cabled, who was concerned and who narrowly escaped.
