Archbishop Walsh subscribed one hundred guineas to the Sinn Fein funds as a protest aganist the continuance of martial law in Ireland.
A sensational Sinn Fein outrage is reported from County Clare, where a shooting party, consisting of Lord Inchiquin and friends, in motor cars, was held up and tired on by a gang on the roadside. The party returned the fire and a number were injured on both sides, including the Hon, Edward O’Brien, Lady Beatrice O’Brien ,and two country deputy lieutenants. Troops rushed to the scene of the onrtage. During a debate in the House of Commons Colonel Malone revealed that Edward Shorfct. Secretary of State for Homo Affairs,; narrowly escaped assassination a few weeks ago while on a visit to Ireland. When he was entering Dublin Castle Sinn Feiners tired from cover at the back of Mr Shortt’o motor car. Fortunately he escaped.
