BULLS.

ROSE, SWEET PEA, FLOWER AND VEGETABLE SHOW.

The high winds 'of late may have had a certain damaging effect on many verj' fine blooms, but this did not discourage horticultural enthusiasts. The entries at Bulls Show constituted a record—there were so many that the committee had difficulty in displaying them, bat the fact that exhibits were somewhat crowded did not detract from the spectacular effect. It was the finest blaze of colour seen in the hall. Many magnificent blooms were shown, the Champion Rose boing exhibited by Mr J. C. Glover with a "Pink Cochet." He aiso scored well with his other exhibits. The judgo, Mr Maaon, had some difficulty in awarding ana regarded the exhibits as very good. There was a rare showing of gooseberries, and strawberries, and competitionSwas very keen in the decorative classes. Miss N. Gorton had full scope for her judging ability. A multitudinous conglomeration of dainty comestibles faced Mesdames James McKelvie and F. Purnell, and their task of allotting awards was no easy one. The showing of vegetables was large ami would have made a professional grower envious. The pupils of the district schools responded well, and this class promises to be one of the biggest in connection with this very up-to-date Show. The judge, Mr F. L. de Berry, considered the work on the whole very good. The winning dosign in Std VI was especially good, and the drawing in Std I was a wonderful piece of work for one so young. Mr H. A. Goodall had. control of the secretarial duties and he was ably assisted by Messrs A. E. Penny and F. Cutts. The committee is to be congratulated on the excellent hospitality accorded visiting judges and officials. The attendance in the afternoon was very good and many well stocked stalls did big business.
