Per Press Association,
Woodville, Oct. 22. A meeting of the Kef or m Party was held last night, Mr H. Burnett in the chair. Mr G. N. Smith, M.P., was in attendance. The following resolution was carried unanimously :—That this meeting of Reform supporters is prepared to accept A. Mcßicol as the Reform candidate for Pahiatua seat at the coming election. Mr Klee, of Terehuuga, one of the nominees as the Labour candidate, met members of tne Labour Party last night prior to going on to Pahiatua. The Woodville branch of the A. S.R.S, at a special meeting yesterday viewed with alarm the attempt made in Parliament to confer autocratic powers on the General Manager of Railways in the matter of promotion, which, it carried out, Will lead to endless trouble in the service. It also protested against the proposal to grant large increases in salaries of the first division of officers due to retire, while no provision is made to increase the wages of members of the second division ; that we have confidence in the Executive and pledge ourselves d.o support whatever attitude they adopt to defeat these proposals.
