CHARGES AGAINST FATHER O’DONNELL. United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. Received Oct. 22, 10 a.m. Loudon, Oct. ‘2l. It is understood that the charges against Father O’Donnell, cabled on ( the 18th, allege that he attended tho Sinn Fein Convention in uniform. It is also stated that he dined with Griffith, acting president of the Sinn Fein. | Father O’Donnell in an interview, stated that he visited Dublin to consult a specialist, and subsequently visited friends and relatives in various parts of Ireland, when some discovered that he was being followed. He realized that he had struck a listening post in a Klllarney hotel, when he began to talk to a man who professed deafness. He discussed current; affairs, including 1 the strike, and Britain’s failure to solve the Irish problem, and chose subjects carefully, in view of the fac: that there were listeners in the room. Father O’Donnell met more mysterious strangers in Cork who were anxious to converse with him. Father O’Donnell added that when he returned to Dublin the Assistant Provost Marshal said he had received a report that he had used bad seditious language at Killarney. O’Donnell replied that was absolutely untrue. His arrest followed ou a charge of conduct prejudicial to order and discipline. Received Oct. 22, 11 a.m. London, Oct. 21. It is reported iu Dublin that Father O’Donnell’s release is imminent. He remarked to an interviewer: “It is a strange climax to find myself iu a traitor’s cell iu the land of my forefathers, considering the part I played in Australia iu connection with the war, the recommendations with which I came to England, and the fact I frequently risked my life in battle. ”
