TURAKINA NOTES.
From Our Own Correspondent.
Two of our soldiers arrived home about a -week ago—Sergeant J. M. Cains and Rifleman Wallace Knox. The latter was severely wounded not long after arrival in France, and after convalescence has rendered service in the E.A. M. C. The former has been employed in the paymaster’s office on transport. “Both" are well and have acquitted themselves .with credit in the country’s service. The older residents are gradually passing away by death or removing to other districts, and new families are taking their places. Mr and Mrs W. A Davis, who have been here for nearly fifty years, are leaving shortly for Inglewood to be nearer their sons, who are farming at tbe Mokau'river, ~ Mr'aud Mrs?A. Franklin,'who have also'been time in are leaving for Palmerston. , The best wnshes of the friends of both families follow them to their new homes and we wish them every blessing. Colds are prevalent at present. The weather has been variable, and frosts have been on several nights. Owing to the cold weather the recent rains have not benefited the paddocks much, but the water tanks have been filled.
