CONSTRUCTIONAL REDUCTION ’ New York, June 10. The New York Times’ Paris correspondent states that Mr Daniels’ announcement that the United States Government had abandoned its naval building programme cabled, has created surprise among the American peace delegation. It is inferred in well-informed circles that the United States and Britain have reached an agreement regarding the size of the respective navies. NAVAL APPOINTMENTS. London, June 9. Tlie Admiralty announce that Rear-Admiral Duff has been appointed Commander-in-Chief on tho China station and Captain Tothill, Com-mander-in-Chief in the East Indies station. Captain Ohatfield has been appointed Fourth Sea Lord. HONOURING MILITARY GENIUS. London, June 8. The Grand Cross of St. Michael has been conferred on Sir Hubert Gough, General Chavel and Sir William Robertson. Tlie Air Force Cross lias been conferred on Commandant Read and the officers of No. 4. Grand Crosses of St. Michael were also bestowed on Lieut. -General Cavan and Lieut.-General Milne. WOMAN SUFFRAGEINJ AMERICA. Washington, June 1. The State of Illinois has unanimously ratified the woman’s suffrage amendment.
