LAND FOR SOLDIERS.
Per Press Association. Whakatane, J nne 4. Much indignation at the delay in settling soldiers on the land was expressed at the Whakatane County Returned Soliders’ Asssociation reunion, at which about 100 were present. Mr Douglas complained that although the Woodlands Estate, Opotiki, was ready, no soliders were being settled there yet. Mr W. C. Roberts, president of the Whakatane Argicnltural Association, said the Government appeared to he .tied hand and foot by red tape. He advocated local boards for settling soldiers on the laud. strongly urges upon the Government the necessity of quickly opening np the various lands in this county for settling returned soldiers.”
