MARTON CHRYSANTHEMUM SHOW
SPLENDID SHOW OF BLOOMS. The annual Chrysanthemum, Flower, Vegetable and Fruit Show, in connection with the Presbyterian Church, was opened in the Town Hall this afternoon. The show of chrysanthemums, in the opinion of Mr‘F. Mason, the judge, is one of the best yet seen in Marton, the blooms being of a more even character and-showing great improvement on previous shows, which made it very difficult in some cases to select the best bloom. The champion bloom was awarded to a beautiful yellow Japanese incurved, “J. S. Lloyd,’' exhibited by Mr R. Miller, of Hutt. The judging of the cut blooms, decorative and fruit classes was carried out by Mr F. Mason, of Feilding, very expeditiously, all awards being declared by 1.30 p.m. Mr A. J. Gould, Marton, judged the cookery classes. There are a number of stalls laden with useful and ornamental articles, which are presided over by tiie following ladies: Handerchief stall —Misses Runcimau and Hunter. Plain drapery —Mrs Hunter and Mrs R. Simpson. Fancy stall —Mrs Hilton and Miss Howie. Produce—Mrs A. Findlay and Miss Jenkins. Lolly stall—Bible Class girls. Refreshments—Mesdames G. Morris, J.
