MEAT TRUST MENACE.
WARNING TO FARMERS. A vigorous appeal to the farmers to organise and prepare themselves against tbe trust menace was delivered by Mr W. D. Lysnar, »t the recent farmers’ gathering at Whangarei. He outlined the process of the trust in America as revealed by the United 'States Government Commission, which was set up as a result of the. agitation which came from New Zealand. The day was coming, he continued, wfyen the same condition would prevail here, and the trust would squeeze them to death, and they would ha ashamed to pass their condition ou to their children. The United States Commission pnt the report tersely, and a copy should have been pnt into the hands of every farmer in the Dominion. Extracts should bo sent round by the Government. This we a not the work of an individual. Unless theoy tok action to parry this danger off they could not burke it. It already had its tentacles around the United States and Argentine, and waa now trying to get them round Australia and New Zealand. Mr Lysnar also addressed a large meeting of farmers at Manugaturoto on Friday night, and spoke at Paparoa on Saturday night. He urged political action In combating trusts and reducing tbe exorbitant freight charges on produce. He protested against the Government commandeering the New Zealand wool clip, in 1920. They should enlist the sympathy of Labour unions, who were not as a body opposed to'the farmers and would support them in combating the trusts if wisely led. Mr Lysnar proceeded to Northern Wairoa on Sunday to address meetings theie.
