In the House of Commons, on the second reading of the debate on the Coal Commissions Bill, a remarkable divergence of opinion was revealed, Miners’ members demanded that the Government should grant the wages and hours claimed. Mr Lloyd George definitely refused another conference with the miners as the Government did not possess the requisite fundamental data. LABOUR OUTVOTED. London, February 24. J A Labour amendment in the Bouse of Commons refusing to submit the question of the nationalisation of the mines to a Royal Commission was negatived by 257 to 43.
