WINERS' THREAT OF STRIKE.

Mr Smillie declares that the only way to avoid a strike Ss to concede the nationalisation cf the mines, THE MINERS’ ULTIMATUM. T!ME LIMIT SET THE GOVERNMENT London, Fob 23 Mr H s 'ce-T, secretary of the Miners’ Federation, stated'at Mansfield that in order to avert" national disaster Government must secure'lhe wages and horns report before March 4th. He declared that the railwaymen and transport workers were supported by the miners and urged municipalities to undertake buying and distributing of coal with the view of saving the middleman's profit. COLLIERIES .DISPUTE SETTLED Sydney, Feb 25 In connexion with the claim by the Colliery Employees’ Federation for a twenty per cent, increase in wages, the Abermain and Seaham Collieries at Newcastle offered nineteen per cent, which was accepted. BIG UNION SCHEME REJECTED. Adelaide, Feb 25 The Trades and Labour Council rejected by one vote the big union scheme on account of its revolutionary character.
