The Press Bureau states: The Board of Trade arranged a conference between the executive of the national unions of railwayman and underground 'railway companies. An arrangement resnitea from the meeting. DISLOCATION OF t TRADE. CAUSES GOVERNMENT ANXIETY. London, February 17. The Daily Express states that the dislocation of trade and the interruption of reconstruction, owing to strike and epidemic, is causing the Government great anxiety. Mr Lloyd George’s proposal jTcontemplates a permanent , congress, to which all industrial disputes will he submitted. The Labour Party unanimously favours the proposal. BERNE SOCIALIST CONFERENCE. Reuter. Paris, February 17. M. Branting communicated to M. Clemencean the results of the Berne Socialist Conference. He stated that he was very satisfied with the interview with M. Clemenceau, who was friendly and sympathetic. M. Branting expressed the opinion that in a few months the International Labour Party would ;be allowed to place their 'views before the Labour Legislation Committee, and later they might bo asked to submit their ideas to the League of Nations.
