THE RUSSIAN SITUATION.

ALLIES ATTITUDE. (Auat. and N.Z. Cable Association."} Paris, Feb 17 Mr Fraser reports that the Russian situation is again occupying a foremost place in the Council's attention. "The lapsing of the Marmora proposition compels tne Powers to tind another solution. A suggestion has been made that a Commission of military exper tr should look into the question of what amount of force is required to intervene in Russia. It is known that Britain and America, and probably Japan, are absolutely opposed to military intervention, but France and Italy are strongly in favour. France’s attitude is almost solely dictated by fear of Bolshevism. She fears the growth of this political reed more than the cost of military intervention. Although Britain has forces at Archangel and Omsk these were sent really to fight the Germans. Britain feels that ifc would not do to let tlie Roesians down, who up to now, relied for safety upon these troops, and hand them over to the tender mercies of the Bolsheviks. In protecting these minorities is the hope that ultimately some arrangement may be come to with other Governments in Russia. BOLSHEVISM, Paris, Feb 16. Prince Lvoff, interviewed, said the Bolsheviks would employ the .Princes Island meeting as a medium to spread the doctrines of world Bolshevism, Ifc is already established in America and everywhere. Anti-Bolshevik factions now represented id Paris will not attend the Princes Island Conference. THE AELAND ISLANDS. Washington, Feb 17 Paris messages state that the Italian, French, British and American peace delegates have agreed that Aeland Islands should be returned to Sweden. AERIAL NAVIGATION. Washington. Feb 17 Major Albert Smith completed an airplane flight from New York to San Diego. California, in forty I hocrs.
