PRESBYTERIAN GENERAL ASSEMBLY.
Per Press Asssociation Christchurch, Feb li) The Presbyterian General As-sembly-continued its sessions to-day. The following recommendations of the Life and Work Committee were adopted :—That Presnyteries and sessions be enjoined to| give earnest heed to the work of developing the week-night service; of seeking to bring the young into the fold; and of evangelism. That ministers and office-bearers keep careful watch upon the growing tendency to misuse the Lord’s Day, and that the first Sunday in July be appointed Sabbath Observance Day.
That the committee continue its negotiations with the Revs J. H. Miller ana J. R. P. Sclater regarding a visit to New Zealand utter the war.
In the course ot discussion preceding the adoption of the above, the Rev. W, J. Oomrie said the Church was not doing its duty in the matter of financial support of the ministry. Dr Gibb said lacK ot|u*en was the problem of problems. A rich corporation, like the Presbyterian Church, could pay a liviag wage to its members.
The treasurer’s statement; showing a healthy condition of affairs, was adopted.
