A representative meeting of delegates appointed by the various local bodies was held on Wednesday for the purpose of considering the mast suitable means of celebrating the final declaration of peace. Arrangements for holding a thanksgiving service were left in the hands of the local clergy. The meeting was adjourned until a later date, until some necessary information has been made available.

On Thursday, a team of Hunterville bowleis visited Taibape and played a challenge match against a local team defending the Hum Cup. Hunterville , was represented by Messrs E, G. Evans, W. Wilson, A. Gordon, and Q. Clark, while the defence of the trophy 1 was entrusted to Messrs J. Evans, J. McKenzie, W. Clark and W. G. Wrightson The visitors were in a good position on the seventh head On the twelfth hea t the chances ofTaihape was very slight with the score 18 to 6 against them A great nphill game was played by the defenders, who won the next four heads, making the score 18—14. Hnntervilla scored four on the eighteenth head, 22—14 The defenders rallied again, scored three on the twentieth head, and a good five on the last head The final score was: Hunterville 24,. Taihape 22. The cnp was handed over to the winners at the end of the game.

On Wednesday a fsoleaan Requiem Mass was celebrated by Rev. Father O’Connell, S.M., of Wanganui, for the late Father Kinkhead There ware present: Rev. ‘Fathers O’Connell (Wanganui), Mg Mdnns (Palmerston North), Quealy (Petone), Bowe (Dannevirke), Daly (Patea), Cashmau (Marton), Gninane (Ohakune), Harmett (Patea), Forestal (Foxton), Cahill (Waikawa), Doolagbty 1 (Opunake), Campbell (Wellington), Phelan (Maaterton), Smyth (Wellington), McLaughlan (Takapan), O’Dwyer (Feiidmg), and Mmogue (Taihape) The churcb was draped in mourning and the service was a most impressive one.
