MISSING MAN’S BODS FOUND

The mystery snrronrding the disappearance of Albert Edward Bales, aged 21 years, at Koriniti nearly a mouth ago, was cleared up on Saturday, when his charred remains were found.

The deceased, his father, and Mr N. Campbell, were engaged burning fellea bush. The deceased was seen from a distance to light two tiros, but be did not return to the others, and it was assumed at the time that ha had gone home by another track. When bis disappearance£wae discovered, search lasting severs! days was made, Constable J. McMullan proceeding from Wanganui to assist, Despite the efforts of the search party no trace of young Bales could be found.

It now transpires that young Bales met an awful death. Evidently on lighting his last fire be started to make along a track through felled bneh, which would have saved him about two miles of walking. It is now evident that the fire overtook him, and he was burned to death.

Yesterday Constable McMullan left tor Koroniti , to bring the body to Wanganni, where deceased belonged. An inquest will be held, but the time has not yet been fixed. —Chronicle.
