The ambulance is insufficient to cope with the demand. Race meetings have been entirely prohibited. The total to date are 99 deaths and 1746 cases. SPREAD OF INFLUENZA IN AUSTRALIA. Melbourne, Feb 7. There are 220 new iuflueaza cases and there have been eighteen deaths. Adelaide, Feb 7. There are now 59 influenza cases. PRECAUTIONARY ORGANISATION. Per Press Association. Christchurch, February 6 A meeting of representatives of various organisations, *held tins afternoon, took initial steps for setting up an adequate organisation to cope with any further epidemic in the city and country. The great value of the block system in the city during the recent epidemic was strongly emphasised, one speaker saying many lives had been saved by the adoption by the Christhurch doctors of the block system. A strong representative committee was set up to arrange the details of the scheme.
