Tiie National Council of iN.Z., representing all branches of the licensed trade, in view of the statements of Mr Massey and Sir Joseph Ward last year, that a proper solution of the licensing question must bo found and also in view of ibu demands of the Prohibitionists,the Moderat League, and the Labour Party, as well as the Efficiency Board's recommendation—psssed a resolution to the effect that no adequate solution could he found without an altered ballot paper, which must ba revised to remove existing disabilities. With that object the Council had drawn up a petition to Parliament asking for a single ballot paper with the following issues-—National Coutif nance; National Ownership; Narional Prohibition; a hare majority to decide at the next general election.
