"At a committee meeting : of the Matron Jockey Club last evening, Mr R. E. Becket preskiing, Mr H. T Whale’s tender for grazing 21 acres near the racecourse was accepted, The following appointments were made for the race meeting on Wednesday 4th September. Starters and saddling paddock steward, Mi J. McDonnell; Number Board, Mr I. Jefferson, luncheon and jockeys’ room steward, Mr H, McManaway; placed horses, Messrs K. W. Deighton, E. Openshaw, H. J. Cameron and I. Jeffetsoo; fcotalisator, steward, Mr L. M. Richards. Mr G. H. Eaguall will be in charge of the totalisator. The course is in excellent order and the nominations which close to-night premise to be a record. The farmer may he healthy and wealthy, but his stock would be healthier and he would be wealthier if he displayed Ids wisdom by draining i.is farm with field pipes from J. C. Meyer’s Ross Street Yards, Marton, where prices are reasonable and quality excellent.* Yon can have all the comfort, all the warmth and all the sound sleep provided by a “Unique” hot water bottle for less than a shilling 83'ear.
