FAILING TO ENROL.
Per Press Association. Auckland, May 6 . A First Division rt-servist, Jolm Charles Orrne, was charged at the Police Court to-day with failing to enrol. The police stated that the Recused, with a manied woman who was separated from her husband and had two children, had lived on a fishing bost_£n the harbour for two years. ! They lived on the woman's maintenance money, supplemented by the proceeds of fishing. He was dodging military service and avoided coming into ' the city, the woman doing any neevssary business. Orme was on ths.roll as a Second Division reservist, class D, his address being WaPieke Island, in the Gulf. Tiie Magistrate said that had it not been that the i>e>:d for men was so great, accused would have received a;long te:m of imprisonment. A sentence of six months' imprisonment was imposed, accused to be handed over to the military authorities at tiie expiration of the term.
