“THE LITTLE DUCHESS.” TO-NIGHT. Plenty of child-stars are able to express cheerful and gay moods, but it is seldom that a'small girl is able to be convincing in the delineation of the stronger emooions. This latter is the remarkable gift of little Madge Evans, the world star who is seen in “The Little Dnchess. ” Her acting is nothing short of marvellous. The 19th episode (last but one) of the “Iron Claw”; and a Topical Budget will also be screened.
MARTON CHEBROS. TOWN HALL, MARCH 12th. The Town Hall on next will, no doubt, be taxed to its utmost to accommodate the theatregoers who wish to give a hearty welcome to the Marton Oheeros, a hand of some 40 local amateurs of undoubted talent. The Chinese operetta ‘‘Ohinaland,” which takes up the second half of the programme, is a hlaze of colour and the mnsic is bright and catchy. Mr Sherriff will be heard in a Chinese love song, and again with Mrs Langridge (nee Miss Sutherland) in a dnet ‘All My Days Till End of *Life. ” A feature of the scene is Yen How’s six little wives who dance and sing in a quaint Chinese manner. Miss Dorothy Sutcliffe as captain of the Guard, will sing ‘‘Chinese “Soge Man,” with a chorus of guards which ends with a grand march spectacle by the girls of the Emperor’s Guard. Alt the costumes have been especially procured from Wellington, so the mounting will leave nothing to be desired. The orchestra is under the conductorship of Mr Orozier. The bos plan is now open at Mogridge’s and patrons are advised to book early as the booking will be heavy.
