MAILED FIST THE PEACE MAKER AN APOSTLE OF FRIBHTFULNESS. Amsterdam, Feb. 38._ In the Reichstag, Herr Scheidemaun, Majority Socialist, declared that the fruits of the German advance in Russia showed this was the best method to get peace. He said: “Not the negotiations, nor the Reichstag resolutions, nor the Papal notes, but the unbroken advance of the German forces, has brought peace.” He continued: “Belgium must*be hold as a pawn against Britain'’s refusal to surrender the German colonies. Not the slightest consideration should be shown Roumania, from whom a heavy indemnity must be exacted and with an army in occupation until it is paid. He rebuked the Kaiser for saying that the victory of the German arms must first he recognised, and recalled previous recommendatious from all parties for somewhat more reserve in that quarter. He declared that the great mass of Socialists ener«eticaily repudiated the Kaiser’s views.
Herr Erzberger said: “If Germany is ever defeated, then Inst year’s peace resolntion was only moved as a temporary measure. ”
