SHOOTING.

RANGIIIKEI DEFENCE RIFLE CLUB. MINIATURE RIFLE SHOOTING.

The first shoot of the year Was held in the Bulls Town Hall on Tuesday evening, a fair number being present. Two ranges were fired—lo and 15 yards, the best score of the evening being put up by the veteran of the Club, Mr Humphries, who finished with the fine total of 69 out of a possible 70. The shooting all round was hardly up to last year’s form, most of the cracks being very evidently out of training or, at least, short of a gallop. The f ollowing were the scores:

The general meeting adjourned from the previous Tuesday was continued during the evening, when it •was unanimously decided to continue shooting on the lines suggested hy the committee, viz., to shoot each Tuesday evening in the Town Hail, marking fee to he Gd, each member to provide own cartridges. The grazing of the rifle range was also discussed, members expressing surprise at the peculiar attitude of the Bulls Domain Board in repudiating the Club’s claim for rent for the lust 'tour years. In reply to questions it was stated that the range comprised eleven acres, which the Board used continuously for grazing stock and had paid rent at the rate of £5 per annum up to the year 1913. It was decided to refer the matter back to the committee to deal with, it being the general opinion that if a satisfactory arrangement could not shortly be arrived at with the Domain Board the best thing to do would be to hand the matter over to the military authorities to attend to.
