SALE OF DRINK TO SOLDIERS A COMMANDANT’S VIEW. United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. Received Feb. 22, 10.15 a,m. Hobart, Feb. 23. The Senate Committee is inquiring into the sale of intoxicants to soldiers. Tho State Commandant said that of the whole of tho men enlisted in- Tasmania only 1191 failed to go to the front. Drink had not to any extent interfered with the efficiency of (he Tasmanian troops. He favoured wot canteen for tho sale of drink of a reduced strength and the introduction of an Anti-shouting Act. AGAINST INCREASING PRICES. Melbourne, Feb. 23. A regulation prohibits agreement among traders to increase prices of supplies. PRODUCE PRICES. 4s 10s to os 2d; Cape, 3s 3d. Oats, milling, 3s to 3s Id; feed, 3s lOd to 3s lid. Potatoes, £3 to £5 10s. Onions, £5 to £5 15s. A QUEENSLAND PARTY’S PROGRAMME. Brisbane, Feb. 22.
