SECOND' DIVISION CLAIMS.
DEPUTATION TO THE MINISTER. (Per Frees Association.) Wellington, Feb. 21. Replying to a deputation of the Second Divisioii League. Sir J. Alien denied that the Financial Assistance Board had asked whether a wife was working when considering an application!' or aid. He thought a shilling and sixpence a day enough for married man at the front. He wanted them to believe that he was honest when he framed the regulations and created the Board. The scheme was introduced to try to do away with cases of hardship and lie wanted them to have confidence in the Board. .If it proved that it was over worked lie would make such alterations as were necessary. He could not promise to increase the number of Boards, because of anomalies that would be created in varying decisions. He promised them Jastice would bo done.
