Sir Douglvs Haig reports hostile artillery activity in tlie neighbourhood of Harvincourt Wood, south ■ward and northward of Lens and the neighbourhood of Menin road. Onr aeroplanes dropped tivo tons of explosives on hostile railway stations, sidings and other targets: also half a ton on au aerodrome southeastward of Cambrai, and on billets. All our machines returned. A BRAVE SERGEANT. London, Feb. 7. A bar to Military Medal has been awarded to "the Now Zealander, Jiergt. S G. Foot. Ho commanded a platoon after the officer was ■wounded. When he encountered a strongly held trench he took prisoner thirty-nine men, with seven machine guns, consolidated the ground and hold on until wounded. >A distinguished conduct medal lias l?een awarded to 23 New Zealanders.
