THE DEFENCE COMMISSION.
(Per Press Association.) Wellington, Feh. 7. The War Expenditure Commission met to-day, but did not take evidence. General Sir Arthur Robin statedjdiat he-and his'officers would facilitate the work of the OommiS' sion, and in order to facilitate matters, ho was prepared to attach, should the Commission desire it, sn officer of the Headquarters Staff, who might be useful in the giving of information by reason of his knowledge of the working of the different branches. This officer would be’handy to give information on the spot. If his suggestion met with their approval, ho would nominate Major Andrews. In reply to the chairman, General Robin said that the officer would be attached merely for the purpose of supplying information. The Commission agreed to the suggestion and formally adjourned, to meet again at Auckland on Monday next to take evidence.
