WIDE DIVERGENCE OF VIEWS. TROTSKY A PUZZLE TO THE HUNSReceived Feb. 8, 9 a.m. London, Feb. 7. A wireless German official account of Sunday’s sitting at Brest Litov.sk states that Trotsky demanded the withdrawal of troops from Poland so as to enable the people to give a free expression of opinion. Czornm protested against Trotsky’s statement that it was impossible to negotiate with a "Polish delegation, because Poland had no fixed boundaries and had no testablished an independent Government. Czernin pointed oiit that the same applied to Russia, adding : 4 ‘We did not ‘come here for an intellectual wrestling match.”
Continuation of the discussion on Poland being unprofitable KuJilmaun peremptorily closed the sitting, st'iting it was impossible to follow Trotsky’s dialection and apparent contradictions by first claiming the independence of Poland and later denying Poland’s right to be heard separately, Kuhlmanu concluded by saying that unavoidable duties uecess-tated his short absence from the negotiations between the other Central Powers and Russia and the legal and economic commission could proceed. CONFERENCE TO BE RESUMED Amsterdam, Feb. 7. The Volks Zeitnng states that the conference at Brest Litovsk will resume on the seventn, the chief object of the Central Governments 'being to conclude a peace with the Ukraine.
