HEAVY RAINS IN AUSTRALIA

(Aust. and N.Z. Gable Association.) Received Jan. 31 noon,. Sydney, Jan. 31. Heavy general rains are falling. Coining on top of the already rainy season the result is considerable damage to fruit and wheat crops.
NEW SOUTH "WALES POLITICS. The censure debate in the Assembly is unfinished. Mr Storey hammered the Government over the decision during the late strike to assume control of the whole of the cod mines in the State, and its agreement with the Victorian Government lease of certain mines,including erection of houses for miners sent from Victoria to w'ork the mines, details of which had allegedly boon kept secret. The Victorian" Government had subsequently turned the proposal down. Ho strongly attacked the National Part)' over conscription, accusing them of going hack on thoir promise not to support its re-introduction and the alleged victimisation in connection with the strike. Mr Holman made a spirited reply to the charges.
