HUN AIRMEN’S DIFFICULTIES.
DIFFICULT TO APPROACH LONDON. THE BARRAGE BECOMING EFFECTIVE. Received. Jan. 01, 1 p.m. Loudon, .ban, 00. Tuesday night's raid proved that Loudon is growing increasingly difficult of approach. The Gothas attempted to pierce the fierce barrage,. but most of the gunfire was distant, showing that the enemy was worsted, and finally forced to accept the inevitable and fly seaward. _
LATEST REGARDING RAIDS. AN OFFICIAL REPORT. HUSS VERY LIMITED SUCCESS. / London, Jan. JO. Oiliciul: About fifteen hostile aeroplanes delivered a number of attacks against Loudon. None penetrated the capital. A group crossed Tlianet Isle and proceeded towards Loudon, but gunfire turned them back. Simultaneously three or four crossed the Essex coast, but failed to penetrate outer defences. A single aeroplane later passed round north and west of Loudon and dropped bombs on the south-eastern outskirts. Simultaneously another bombed the north-eastern outskirts where there wore no casualties or damage. Gunfire later turned back others netweeu London and the Kent and Essex coasts. Three or four were engaged in afinala ttack between IRJ.O and midnight, but were equally unsuccessful. There were'a few casualtieS on the southeastern outskirts. Our aeroplanes engaged the enemy machines and all ours returned.
