Fourteen million gross of tonnage have been convoyed till the 19th Jannary with a loss equivalent to only 1.44 per cent. WAR VESSELS SUNK. London, Jan. 29. The armed escort vessel Mechanician was torpedoed and subsequently stranded in the English Channel on 20th January, and became a total wreck. Thirteen lives were lost.

The torpedo boat Hazard was sunk in the Channel on 39th January as the result of a collision. Three lives were lost-
