AIR RAID ON MANNHEIM.
HINT OF JUDGMENT TO GOME. A NIGHT OF TERROR. POPULACE DEMAND PEACE. Received Jan. 29, 10 a.m. London, Jau. 28. . The Daily Express’ Geneva correspondent says that the British air raid on Mannheim on Thursday eclipsed ail raids, showing Germany the -penalties that may be expected for bombing open towns. Travellers in hot flight from Maunhoim tell that the town spent a night of terror. The panic stricken people rushed to the streets halfclothed. The British swooped so low that the engines could be hoard from the streets. They surprised the Gorman antiaircraft gunners ,au<l one bomb fell in the barracks. When the British departed an angry crowd gathered in the Market Square crying, “Down w ith the war. Give us peice!”
