At next Wednesday’s stock sale something over 9000 mixed sheep will he warded. It has been decided that all surplus mouies securing from the fire brigades’ demonstration being held at Easter shall bo handed to the Women’s Working Club. Tbo Club is at pcseut making a big effort to raise £ISOO toc.-rry on its work and the amount received from the demonstration should substantially benefit the Club’s funds. It is expected tint at least 19 brigades will be competing and the number of visiting firemen should be 120. Tin* demonstration and sports will extend over the Easter holidays and will bo the biggest attraction Taihape has yet put on. At a meeting held on Friday evening last it was decided to elect an executive committee consisting of members of the Club, Tradesmen’s Association and. townspeople and the question of organising the Easter Carnival would bo discussed at a combined meeting on February sth.
The second of a series of races under the auspices of the Taihape Swimming Club will be swum over a 25 yards course on Thursday afternoon next.
On Sunday afternoon a Maori hoy aged 5 years named Whakatika, was admitted to Dr Boyd’s hospital suffering from a severe fracture of the skull caused by being kicked bv a horse at Winiita.

Be was one of Taihape’s most popnl r hoys and took an active part in footb H and boxing. At the time of his death lie was only 22 years ot age. Private Dean is a son of Mr L. Dean of Wiuiata end is a member of the 20th Reinforcements. From the Fifth Australian General Hospital, Melbourne, is reported tiie death of Edward Abraham, brother of tiie late Mr J. McTaggart, of Opaoa. Young Abraham was at one time a pupil of tbo Taihape school but afterwards bo went to Te Auto and later to Hawkesbnry College N.S.W. Ho enlisted with Main" Body of Australians, when only 18 years of age and wss invalided uack to Australia the first week in January. In a fo-.v days pneumonia supervened and ho died, on Jan. Bth, being buried at Cobnry Cemetery, with full military Mouonrs, on the following day.
