THE MARKETS.

LEVIN’S REPORT. During the past week we hold our yard sales at Bulls and Feiidiug, and a dispersal sale in conjunction, with Messrs Murray, Roberta and Co. of Messrs Smith Bros., Eomnev flock.

At Bu'ls we had a very yarding of both sheep and cattle. The demand for sheep was considerably better than at late sales and prices all round showed a rise. Lambs of all classes were in particularly strong demand and in all Ckses prices realised were in excess of vendor’s values, The demand for cattle was in and out and bidding at auction dragged. We however quitted practically the whole yarding before the close of the day. A largo number of weanors was submitted, practically all selling, prices however wore in buyers favour. At Messrs Smith Bros, sale we had a fair attendance. Bidding for ewes and lambs was active and the prices realised, particularly for ram lambs, wore highly satisfactory to the vendor. 2-tooth flock aud stud rams were not sought after and very few wore sold.

At Podding wo had a heavy yarding of cattle. As at Bulls/ lambs of all clascs were keenly competed for, the top price being obtained by Mr F. Richardson, who obtained £1 for a nice line of shorn fat aud forward lambs. 3t3i wethers sold freely. We were, however, unable to quit two or three lots of forward condition 4 aud 6th wethers. Breeding owes were not in demand. No cattle buyers were present and very little business was done. On account Smith Bros, sale, stud Romney sheep:—2-shear ewes Sgna to 3-shear ewes 2gns to Bgns, 4 and syr ewes 2}£gus to 3/fgns, ewes failing mouths “ewe lambs to 3th ewes 3j.|gns, ram lambs iji/gua to 4%gus, 1 shear fiock rams figns to 7gus. At Feilding:—Sheep: On account G. Richardson, wether lambs 30s; on account G. Hobbs, shorn mixed lambs 12s Cd to 16s lOd, woolly lambs 14s to 17 8d; woolly lambs 14s to 17s Bd, cull lambs 10s Id to 10s 9d; on account H. E. Gosuoll, 2th wethers 23s 9d to 23s 6d; on account F. Krull, lambs 16s od to 19s od, cull lambs 10s 3d, mixed 2th 24s lOd; on account J. E. Walker, wethers lambs, 1 ear mark, 13s 9d; on account Sims, Cooper and Co, B. F. lambs 14s. Cattle: Jresey bulls £8 to £l2 15s, springing heifers £lO to £lO ss, cows and calves £7 ss, we,aner steers £4l6s, mixed weaners £3 5s to £3 Is fid, 15 month steers £4 5s to £6 store cows £5 to £8 2s 6d, fat cows £lO to £lO 15s. Loan and Mercantile report A t Feilding on Friday a fair entry of sheep amFcattle was graded. There was a decided improvement in the tone of the sheepmarket and bidding was animated, resulting in a good advance on last week’s rates: —.Small woolly lambs 10s 7d to 10s Bd, medium woolly lambs 14s sd, medium 2th wethers 226 s 6d to 27s 7d, 4th wethers 30s fid, cull ewes 9s lOd, good condition mixed age ewes 275, fat ewes 2s, small weaners Sis, store cows £4 to £6, cows in calf £0 15s.

Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report having a very fair entry ['of sheep and a small yarding of cattle at their Feilding sale on Friday the 25th instant. Lambs of all classes showed a distinct rise in prices from previous week, and sheep generall met with good competition. Quotations: —Sheep: Cull lambs 5s to 8s 7ci, medium shorn lambs to” 12s, black face shorn lambs to 14s 7d, small woolly lambs 10s 6d to 10s Bd, very fair woolly lambs to 15s 7d, 3th ewes to 27s id, mixed age empty ewes 13s lid Cattle: 15 month heifers £5 18s, forward cows to £8 15s, light fat cows to £lO 17s. Abraham and William Ltd, report at Palmerston North on the 24th inst., we had a fairly good yarding of stock the quality of which was on the whole rather inferior. Prices showed an improvement and practically the whole yarding changed hands:—Aged store ewes brought from 15s to 18s, aged woollyewes 21a lOd, inferior 2th ewes 17s 6d to 20s lOd, cull ewes 6s to 10s 6d, aged ewes and lambs, poor, 20s; store lambsl2s 6d to 15s, small 9s to 10a 4d. - ~ At Feilding on the 25th inst. we had a good muster of sheep and a fair entry of cattle. There was a good demand for all classes the market showing a decided improvement especially for sheep. Sales were made at the following prices:— Fat wethers 33s 3d, breeding ewes 23s to 26s 6d, store ewes 16s to 19s, aged ewes 13s to 14s 6d, rape lambs 18s to 19s 6d, blackface lambs 13s 6d to 13s 9d, shorn lambs lls Gd to 13s 6d, cull 2th wethers 20a to 21s 6d, light fat and forward cows £lO lls to £l3 Bs, forward cows £8 Is to £9 7s, aged and small store cows £6 6s to £7 10s, steers £lol7s, 18 month heifers in calf £6 6s, springing heifers to £lO, store heifers to £6 6s, mixed weanera, medium £1 17s to £2 6s, cull ditto 17s Gel to £1 Bs, hulls £lO to £ll 10s.
