NO* SIGN OF TOWN. A TERRIBLE OaLA MITT FEARED. United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. Received Jan. 28, 11 a.m. Brisbane, Jan. 28. The latest news from • Mackay states that the town is in ruins. There is no gas or water supply and the town is under police coutroll. Haavy rain is still falling. The master of the steamer, Ara : wattia, reports that he remained in the vicinity, hut saw no sign of a town, only a vast sheet of water. It is feared that a calamity of enormous magnitude has fallen Mackay, ..with appalling life.
