FIGHT IN SNOWSTORM.
ATTACK AT BULLECOURT
GAB. FLAMES AND BOMBS,
London,,. Jan. 10.
A message from Mr. Percival Phillips, the special correspondent of the Daily Express, says:—The Bulleconrt trenches have been Hie scene of rare Red raiding enterprises hy tho enemy. The Bavarians on Tuesday apparently thought to catch us napping while a blizzard was hiding the Gorman trenches from observation. A preparatory bombardment with gi.s shells failed to give tho Germans any advantage. The attackers advanced at daylreak, during the height of the storm, with ’flame-throwers, which, wore blazing away across the trackless waste of No ■ Man’s Laud. Patches of black frozen earth appeared in the snow where the jets of flame were making a path for the infantry. Wo could not see tho Bavarians until the snow-covered figures among tho wire succeeded in dropping into a strip of front line trench. In spite of a five-hours’ Wind duel with bombs in tho driving snow, the Germans failed to extend their gains. Our counter-attack drove them out, and wo made u score of prisoners.
